A car accident yesterday on the Sagtikos Parkway in Commack left two people dead after a car heading southbound lost control and spun out into oncoming traffic. The only survivor was a dog, who was sitting in the passenger’s seat in one of the cars.
The car heading southbound in the left lane was a man in his 20’s driving a 2006 Ford Mustang, just south of the Northern State Parkway. At 4:45 p.m. the car changed lanes, trying to pass another vehicle, and spun out, crossing the center median and into the north-bound lanes of the Sagtikos Parkway.
The Mustang crashed into a 1999 Cadillac Deville, which was being driven by a 73-year-old woman. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, while the women died en route to Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip. The only survivor was “a little shaggy dog” who was taken home by a witness.
