The family of a deceased Suffolk County police officer recently unveiled signs that officially named an intersection after the officer, reports a New York Injury Lawyer. The intersection at Vanderbilt Motor Parkway and Commack Road is where the 22-year police veteran was killed on February 22, 2009, while he was responding to a call for assistance from another officer. His car was hit by an alleged drunken driver.
As dozens of officers stood at attention, the Suffolk County Police Pipes and Drums Emerald Society played “God Bless America” and “Amazing Grace” during the ceremony. A Suffolk legislator declared to a New York Personal Injury Lawyer the signs would do more than remind others of a police officer who lost his life protecting the public. It includes flowers, a teddy bear, and the words, “Don’t drink and drive.
