Alleged Third Strike against Motorist

by

A man in his early 20’s was charged earlier this week with reckless driving and driving while under the influence. The man was driving without a license earlier this week when he hit other vehicle. At the time of the collision he was traveling over 20 miles per hour over the speed limit, states a source.

The young man was driving along in his pickup truck, alleged drunk, when he hit a sedan and which swerved and went off the side of the road. The sedan then rolled several times and ended up upside down in a field. The driver of the pickup truck continued driving and will be charged with leaving the scene of an accident, which is a felony charge.

There were multiple witnesses to the incident in Queens which corroborated the sedan passengers’ stories. Police felt that they enough information to pursue the suspect for questioning.

The driver and passenger in the sedan were visibly shaken by the incident and sustained injuries which required treatment, but were not considered life threatening. Both the driver and the passenger were presumed to be wearing their seatbelts at the time of the incident which probably saved their lives, reports a cop.

The driver of the pickup truck has been at fault in two prior incidents over the past few years. The policy followed several leads which led to the man’s arrest. He was hiding in a garage with his pickup truck when the police located and arrested the man. Although the man continued to drive on the freeway after the accident, there were no reports of further damage done by the driver’s irresponsible actions.

The man’s court date had not yet been set and it was unclear what charges the two women from Staten Island would press against the pickup driver. The formal incident report was not available at the time of this article, explains a reporter. It was unknown if the pickup truck driver had retained legal representation or if a public defender would be assigned to him.
