Two Accidents Call For The Expertise of A New York Car Accident Lawyer

by

A Brooklyn mom and an aspiring pre-med student from Westchester County were killed in horrifying car accidents early yesterday when their vehicles plunged off rain-slick highways.

Gretchen Patterson, 48, of Powell Street in Brownsville, Brooklyn, died in a four-car smashup that sent her vehicle hurtling 26 feet down an embankment on the Henry Hudson Parkway at West 74th Street, police said.

Patterson’s car was rammed from behind by a Dodge Magnum, driven by Joseph Harris, 29, of Lenox Avenue, that was racing at 90 mph, authorities said. The crash sent Patterson’s vehicle banging into a wall, flipping over it and then plunging down into Riverside Park.

Patterson was pronounced dead at St. Luke’s Hospital after the 12:30 a.m. accident.

Police charged Harris with DWI and vehicular manslaughter.

Deborah Dixon, a neighbor of Patterson’s, said the victim had several adult children.

Meanwhile, in The Bronx, a car driven by Rabindranath Ramjanack, 25, of Mount Vernon went airborne off a rain-slicked Bronx River Parkway East, skidded on a guardrail and flipped 40 feet down into a Metro-North rail yard, police said.

Ramjanack, a Westchester college student who hoped to become a doctor, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His grieving uncle, Dyanan Jaikaran, 44, said he had to call the young man’s parents in Trinidad and give them the heartbreaking news.
