A family of four was killed after their car ran into a school bus. Two people, the bus driver and an elementary school student, were on the bus at the time. The bus driver and the student suffered only minor injuries, reports a NY City Car Accident Lawyer. Law enforcement officials do not have all the details needed to explain why this tragic accident occurred, but they believe the car was speeding at the time.

The accident occurred in Ash, North Carolina on a quiet country road. The family, which included a husband, wife and two small children were in a car alongside the school bus. The husband, who was driving, may have sped up to pass the bus when the accident occurred. The husband, age 31, the wife, age 30 and two children, ages 6 and 9 were pronounced dead at the scene. The bus driver, age 61 and the young student were taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries. It is unclear when the bus driver and child were released from the hospital and if they will need further treatment for their injuries.

Law enforcement officials are still investigating this case as they are unsure how the accident occurred. The bus was found on the roadside shoulder in a ditch which could indicate that it was pushed by the car. It appears the car crossed the center line and entered the school bus’s lane. Whether this was intentional or not is still being investigated. The driver of the car may have momentarily taken his eyes off the road or swerved too quickly to get around the bus.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has been gathering research based on analysis and crash tests that show evidence supporting the fact, that if you were to whack your vehicle into the back of a truck trailer, you would most likely die very quickly. A NY Car Accident Lawyer expands, that the center of the problem is based around the simple fact that cars are low and trailers are rather high. A bus accident would cause the same damage.

A car rides typically lower, which allows the full force of the accident to penetrate the windshield and roof pillars that protect the passenger compartment. This problem creates one of the fastest ways to not only die, but more specifically lose your head entirely. A New York Car Accident Lawyer reveals that the under-ride guards on trucks often fail in low speed crashes as well. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is fighting for stronger under-guard rails on both trucks and trailers, to be mandated by the federal government.

A New York Injury Lawyer shares how the front passenger compartment of most vehicles crushes instantly when the under-guard rails fail. You may be driving an incredibly safe vehicle, with impeccable crash test ratings, but the scary truth is that if you are in an accident with a truck or trailer where the under-guard rails fail, you could be killed. This is a very frightening thought, when you search for a car that will be ultimately safe for you and your entire family. It is impossible to be safe from every danger, but if the federal government decides that stronger under-guard rails should be a necessary measure, many lives could in turn be saved. Companies in New York City and Staten Island are looking for ways to prevent these injuries.

An Australian rugby player was injured recently when his car was hit by a local transit bus. Two teammates traveling in a car behind the player were able to pull him from the car. Even though the player suffered minor injuries to his back, neck and chest, he underwent a brain scan to determine if he also suffered a concussion. Head injuries that go untreated can lead to serious health risks later on, notes a New York Auto Accident Lawyer. The player may have also injured his shoulder, but further tests are needed.

Those on the bus were not injured in the accident. The bus, carrying around 43 people, was making its regular stops when it hit the car. It is unknown at this time who caused the accident, the player or the bus driver, because police are still gathering evidence. The State Transit Department is cooperating fully with law enforcement to determine the exact cause of the accident. The accident happened in the morning around 8am.
