A Valley Stream man on probation for DWI causes another accident while driving intoxicated – New York Car Accident Lawyer reports

Persi Esquival, a 47 year old Valley Stream, Long Island resident, was already on probation for being convicted of DWI 2006. Esquival had attended a party hosted by the Diocese of Rockville Centre at the Hempstead Union Free School District building earlier that night. He then left the party and was driving his SUV when he crossed over into oncoming traffic. His truck hit the car being driven by 21 year old Jason Shein and three friends. Reports show that everyone in Shein’s car suffered injury. One person, whose name has not been revealed, suffered a serious injury. Shein’s injury was fatal. Esquival blood alcohol contect was three times the legal limit. He was arrested for numerous charges including aggravated vehicular manslaughter and driving while intoxicated. He was sentenced to 21 years in prison. Shein’s family has also filed a lawsuit against Esquival’s insurance carrier. They also filed suit against the Diocese of Rockville Center and Hempstead Union Free School District for allowing a patron of their party to get so intoxicated.
