A NY Car Accident Lawyer Will Help You Get What is Coming to You

A car accident took place in Centerport, New York. The accident occurred on January 24, 2009.

In the early morning, Douglas Davis, 44, listed in a business registry as Vice President of Davis Aircraft Products Co. in Bohemia, was driving his automobile along Route 110 in Melville heading northbound. He was driving his GMC pickup and hit a Nissan 200SX. Melissa Scherr, 25, of Valley Stream, was driving the Nissan, 25, of Valley Stream. After the accident, Davis fled the scene.

After being hit, Scherr was brought to a Huntington Hospital. After doctors did everything they could to help her, she died later that day. It is known that her and her boyfriend, Vito Campanelli, had been setting aside money for their wedding.

When an firefighter who was called to the scene of the accident followed Davis all the way to Greenlawn, Davis was found in a Hofstra Drive backyard. Davis admitted to being intoxicated while driving and during the accident.

In Suffolk District Court in Central Islip, Davis was ordered on $250,000 held bail $500,000 held bond. Davis was represented by attorney James O’Rourke.

Old records show that Davis had previously pled guilty to a charge of driving while being under the influence of either drugs or alcohol. At the time, he refused to take a breath test and his license was taken away for ninety days.
