Teen Driver Charged for Highway Crash That Injured Workers

A teenage driver was charged on Monday for causing injury due to drunk driving. Three workers were injured as a result of her actions.

The accident happened on Thursday on I-77. The police report suggests that the teenage woman hit the back of a construction truck which was parked at the side of the highway. Although there was nobody in the truck, the force of the impact pushed the truck into three highway maintenance workers who were standing on the solder of the highway.

The report read by the police shows that two of the workers had fairly minor injuries which did not require hospitalization. Only one of the workers was injured seriously and he was transported to the Metro Health Medical Center.

The worker with the serious injuries required hospital treatment over the weekend. By Saturday, though, he was discharged from hospital as his condition had improved. It's thankful that nobody was killed in this car accident.

The accident highlights the risks that people take to maintain the highways and roads. Although most of the construction happens during the day, there is also some work done at night. The reporter on the story says that motorists need to look out for road workers and slow down accordingly. Slowing down for workers in Long Island and NYC will make it much safer for everyone.

The police report shows that the trucks lights were switched on when the car accident occurred. It is suggested that the only reason this happened was because she was over the drunk drive limit. Eye witnesses report that the driver tried to dispose of evidence by throwing a bear can out of her window at the time of the accident. This was later recovered by police and used as evidence in the case.

The teenage driver was arrested at the scene for driving on a suspended license and operating the vehicle impaired. On Monday the suspect was charged with one count of Driving While Intoxicated, one count of tampering with evidence, and two counts of aggravated assault with a vehicle.

Boy Killed in Car Accident Remembered by Community

A memorial fund has been established for the family of a boy killed in a solo car accident. The boy was driving when he lost control of his car and hit a tree. The car caught on fire and it appears the boy was trapped in the car and died. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Firefighters from the nearby fire station were called to the scene as were local law enforcement officials.

Those who knew the boy held a candlelight vigil in the area where the boy died. The vigil was later moved the parking lot of the local high school because of the number of people who attended. The boy was well-liked in his high school and in the community, explains a friend. Friends, teachers and relatives spoke about the boy at the vigil. Many remembered the boy's smile and how pleasant he was to be around. Some shared their memories while others comforted each other. It is unknown where the boy was headed when the accident occurred.
The accident happened on a Friday night around 8pm. It is unknown how long the boy had his driver’s license. Police believe the boy lost control of the red Honda he was driving and crashed into a tree. It might have been a case of distracted driving. They do not believe the boy was speeding or under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time. Law enforcement officials believe this was just a tragic accident. The boy may have momentarily taken his eyes off the road or an animal may have crossed the vehicle's path and the boy swerved to miss it and hit the tree. Since he was the only person involved in the accident, there are few details to work with, claims a spokesperson.

By all accounts the boy had many friends, hobbies and interests. His hobbies included fixing cars and trapshooting. According to a friend, he was also very close to his family. The town will continue to mourn the boy's death and remember him by helping his family pay for funeral and other expenses through the memorial fund. Car accidents like this one are common in Nassau and Suffolk Counties.

Multiple car crash kills 64-year-old woman and leaves 40-year-old man severely injured

An observer described a car accident involving four cars that killed one woman at the scene and left a man severely injured.

It appeared that the 40-year-old man was driving a black SUV and smashed into the 64-year-olds car at an intersection. On impact, both cars spun out of control into the middle of the intersection where they also crashed into two other vehicles, the person recounted.

He explained that the police had arrested and planned on testing the driver of the SUV for drugs and alcohol. The man’s behavior and the nature of the accident were classic signs for driving under the influence, police observed.

The woman in the vehicle that was hit was apparently just sitting at a red light when she was hit expectantly. Police said she lived only a few miles away from the scene of the car accident and leaves behind a husband and several grandchildren.

“It’s a sad story and I wish there was something we could have done to save her,” said a local police officer. “The paramedics got there fast but they said it looked like she was killed on impact.”

Police investigated these types of accidents and said that multiple car crash frequency has gone down only 10% since 1990 compared with a 20% decrease in regular traffic accidents.

It’s a positive sign that the frequency of accidents has gone down but the fatality rate doesn’t seem to change when multiple vehicles are involved. Somebody’s life is almost always lost unfortunately, one observer explained.
When looking at the rate of alcohol-related accidents and any other substance abuse behind the wheel, the numbers have gone down dramatically.

“Driving under the influence faces much stiffer penalties today than it did even 20 years ago so people aren’t taking the chance as much as they used to. Still, when this type of accident occurs it’s also rare that somebody doesn’t lose a life,” pointed out one individual who is familiar with what happens in NYC and Queens.

Hospital officials could not be reached for comment.

Four children under the age of 7 seriously injured in a car crash Monday

Four children were seriously injured in a truck and car accident on Monday, said an . The driver of the car and mother of the four children was only slightly injured.
An investigator described the oldest child, who is 10, as the most severely injured in the crash. The boy was rushed to the hospital quickly from the scene. The other children were six, two and one and were admitted to the hospital and also listed in serious condition.

This was a terrible accident that sounds like it could have been avoided. In the initial reports it looks like the police think the mother was driving too fast and didn’t break in time to stop the accident.

The went on to say that the mother had been driving rather quickly along the road and a truck in front of her had gotten stuck in traffic. The mother allegedly didn’t notice the truck had stopped and abruptly smashed into it. Police said there were no tire tracks on the road indicating she had slammed on her breaks. This is an example of distracted driving.

There will be an investigation before any charges are filed against the mother. So far, it doesn’t look good and it’s too bad because she has a lot on her plate with such young children with what looks like very severe injuries.

One witness, who was reportedly at the scene of the car accident, said that the woman’s car hit the truck at a very "high speed," and went on to describe the accident scene as very bloody.
“That woman didn’t seem to notice the truck in front of her at all,” the witness said. “It was very scary to watch that accident happen and see all the blood all over the place. I really hope those kids are ok,” she added.

Once the witness dialed 911, it took only a few minutes for emergency vehicles to arrive at the scene. Police in New York City as well as Long Island are looking for signs of distracted driving like drivers on cell phones.

The truck driver that was involved in the crash was unavailable for comment.

Cause of Soldier’s Death Under Investigation

A young soldier for the United States Army was killed in a fatal car accident on Saturday. The solider was in the car along with two other members of the armed forces. The soldier was a passenger in the car when he was thrown from the vehicle during the collision, explains a NY Car Accident Lawyer.

The men were out together, off of base, at the time of the incident. The solider that died was the oldest person in the vehicle and was barely twenty years old at the time of his death. The other two men were barely out of high school. The other two men, who both survived the accident, were both wearing their seatbelts while the young soldier who died was not.

The cause of the collision was unknown at the time of this article. Though drunk drivingl or other drugs are always a suspect in these types of situations, there was no evidence available that pointed to them as the cause in this case. No charges have been pressed at this time against the driver; however, it is always a possibility that there will be charges at some point in the future as further evidence comes to light.

The young man who died as a result of the accident was still alive immediately following the incident. He was transported to a nearby medical facility where medical professionals attempt to save his life. Unfortunately, the soldier’s injuries were too severe to save him.

The driver in this case would have to be proven negligent in order for charges to be pressed against him. Because there was only a single car involved in the accident, it is more likely that the driver was distracted, negligent or otherwise impaired. A NY Car Accident Lawyer states that it is possible that the age of the vehicle, which was over 15 years old, may led to mechanical failure which led to the accident. Neither the driver nor the other passenger in the car could be reached for comment at this time. Police in Staten Island and Long Island are on the lookout for drivers like this one.

Car accident leaves one dead and one airlifted to a special medical facility

A Manhattan Car Accident Firm described a severe car crash involving two vehicles Monday. One woman was killed and the other was airlifted to a special medical facility at the scene.
He went on to explain that the 32-year-old woman, who died, was driving her car and was apparently hit by a man who crossed over into her lane expectantly. The man’s car burst into flames right after he was pulled from his vehicle by passing motorists.
“He is lucky to be alive after such a severe crash,” said a policeman. “It’s one of the worst we’ve seen in a while. Witnesses at the scene said they just barely got him out in time.”
The man was airlifted to a medical center and is currently in critical condition. The 32-year old woman was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead when she arrived there.
She left behind a husband and two children. “It’s such a shame when an accident like this happens,” said a policeman. “One minute she is driving to visit her family, and then next minute she is dead. Her children and husband are just devastated,” he continued.
It is still not known why the man driving the car might have crossed into the wrong lane and that police are hoping witnesses will come forward with information. Whether it's Manhattan or Long Island, police are cracking down on this type of crime.
He wasn’t drinking but we are concerned he might have been texting or talking on his cell phone, the NY Injury Lawyer explained. Police will be investigating that possibility this week when they sift through the evidence and try to make sense of it all.
“It only takes one second to take your eyes of the road and end up in somebody else’s lane,” said a police officer involved in the investigation. “I really hope somebody comes forward, because it is very difficult to figure out the cause in a situation like this.”

Family members of the woman who died could not be reached for comment but officials expect to catch up with them sometime after the funeral and memorial services have ended.

Teenage Stole Truck and Crashed into Building

A NY Car Accident Lawyer explained that police were called when a vehicle struck into a building on Thursday Evening. The accident happened close to the intersection of Highway 73 and Columbus Street.

The police department said that before they even reached the scene there were reports of a stolen truck. The truck was stolen from Stark Street and was reported by its owner. When police arrived at the scene they immediately discovered that the truck which crashed was in fact the Chevy truck which was stolen.

The truck crashed into Fred's Service Center just off Highway 73. This resulted in thousands of dollars of damage which was caused by the driver of the stolen truck. The business is a family business which specializes in servicing and repairing vehicles. The truck slammed into the side of the building at speed.

Eye witness reports read by the authorities say that the truck knocked out a whole section of the comer of the building. Although the business owner was inside the building at time, fortunately he managed to escape unscathed.

The airbags inside the truck were deployed, but the teenager was not hurt. The damage to the building is thought to be severe and requires attention to make the building safe again. The owner of the truck reported that a set of keys had been stolen from his week over a week ago. The NY Car Accident Lawyer says that this is very important to lock vehicles when you are not inside to prevent theft.

The boy got out of the vehicle and ran into a field just east of the site of the accident. It didn't take police long to find him and detain him. The police department said that the accident was caused by dangerous distracted driving, but there was no suspicion that alcohol was involved.

It has since been discovered that the boy was involved in another traffic accident which he drove off from before crashing into the Service Center building. The damaged caused to the vehicle is thought to be less than $1,000, but the damage to the building is much more. Crimes like this are frowned on in Manhattan and Queens.

15-year old girl dies in senseless crash

NY Car Accident Lawyers described a horrific crash involving three teenagers and a police car. “The kid was driving without headlights and a police officer was merely going to pull them over for safety reasons.”

He went on to explain that the driver quickly took off in his vehicle to avoid the police officer and subsequently sideswiped another vehicle and ended the tirade by slamming into a brick wall.

The reporters on the scene said there was a 15-year old boy, a 14-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy in the car, who incidentally, was driving. The 15-year-old victim was sitting in the front passenger seat and did not survive the crash.

The ambulance crew confirmed that the boy had died on impact from the crash. Both the 14-year-old and the 17-year-old were taken to the local hospital for minor injuries.

The crash happened at 2 am according to the police reports and that was confirmed by anyone else on the scene. Police say they have tested the driver for alcohol and narcotics and are investigating the whole situation. It appears the boy might have fled from police because he feared they would know he’d been drinking.
.
The boy is in police custody now and will face formal charges shortly.

A NY Injury Lawyer discovered that the Police had attempted to speak to the driver of the car shortly before the accident, but that the car drove off along the main road before colliding with the second vehicle and hitting a wall.

“I wish they would have just stopped to talk to me,” the police officer said. “A ticket for no headlights costs a lot less than the life of this child and the impact it will have on his family now.”

Witnesses at the scene remarked on the accident and how quickly it all happened. If this accident happened in The Bronx or Brooklyn it would be investigated in the same way.

“I saw the police officer try to go up to their window and they squealed away really fast and a few minutes later they flew into that wall. It was terrible.” One witness said. “I really feel bad and sad for the family of the kid who died.”

Cause of deadly car crash is still unknown

Three cars were involved in a deadly car crash Monday, said a NYC Car Accident Lawyer.
The driver, who allegedly caused the crash, might have been driving down the wrong side of the road. He apparently was distracted and hit a truck head on and was able to get himself out of the vehicle before it burst into flames.
Sadly, this man still didn’t survive the crash despite his escape. Local residents saw a large flame rising from the road and called 911.
“I always see it on TV, but I’ve never seen anything like that so close,” said one woman. “I was horrified! I mean there are so many accidents on this road. It’s terrible. People just drive too fast and they don’t pay attention,” a witness explained.
Lawyers found that the other people involved in the crash were taken to a local hospital and sustained minor injuries.
When police arrived at the scene, they observed they were frantically looking for the driver of the truck in flames. He was finally found 30 yards down the road where he had freed himself to safety.
Police were looking inside the vehicle trying to see if they had an operator and they located him down the road about 30 yards. He had freed himself from the truck, wandered away, thankfully before the truck really went up.
The road had to be closed for close to three hours while police and road officials worked to reconstruct the accident.
One of the officer’s at the scene said, “It’s too bad. It’s sad when someone’s life is gone.” The NYC Injury Lawyer went on to report that the names of the people involved in the accident had not yet been released and the police plan to talk with them about any details they might remember about the accident.
“Pinpointing the cause of this type of accident can be very difficult due to the fire and heavy flames that were involved. We are hopeful that the people involved in the crash or witnesses in residing in the area will be able to shed some light on the situation,” said a local police investigator. Police in Staten Island and Westchester County would handle it the same way.
