Crash Suspect Caught By Contractor, a New York Car Accident Lawyer Reports

A contractor stopped a red light heard a startlingly noise, like a “big bang”. He turned to see a speeding Toyota with two teenage girls screaming as they clung to the hood of the car, which had just struck them. Two other girls were lying on the pavement, bleeding. The Upper Brookville contractor, 45, sped after the fleeing car to stop it.
Nassau police sources told a New York Car Accident Lawyer that the contractor chased the hit-and-run driver through rush hour Wednesday evening traffic for about a mile, from the intersection of Glen Cove and Old Country roads, finally stopping him at Clinton Road and Osborne Road. The girls, all 16-years-old, and friends at Herricks High School in Hyde Park, had been returning from a trip to the mall when they were struck hard enough to smash the windshield, police informed a New York Personal Injury Lawyer.
One girl needed more than 100 stitches to her head, police informed a New York Car Accident Lawyer. All of them were taken to hospitals and expected to survive. The girls were headed to catch a bus when the Toyota ran a red light and struck them in the crosswalk, where they had the right of way. The contractor, in his own vehicle, chased down the Toyota and pulled the 26-year-old driver out, holding him for the police. Police told a New York Personal Injury Lawyer the Toyota “hit all four of these girls with such force that he sent two of them flying onto the sidewalk and the other two were clinging for their lives on the hood of this car.”

No injuries were suffered in the incident, which occurred on Scott Avenue at approximately 6:40 a.m., police told a New York Car Accident Lawyer. The police arrived in response to an original report which stated that the driver had left the scene of an accident.

It was determined when the police arrived that the driver of the car had not, in fact, left the scene. Her name is being withheld by the police at this time and no further details are currently available.

Officials Seek the Answers in a Fatal Crash, according to New York Car Accident Lawyers

Details remain unclear on the circumstances of an early morning June 29th accident that killed a 23-year-old resident of Deer Park. Third Precinct officers and fighter fighters told New York Injury Lawyers they arrived on the scene near Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip to find a block-long field of shattered glass and plastic, and a sedan smashed to the point of being nearly unrecognizable, both the hood and the roof torn off. A utility pole, snapped in half with the top still dangling from the wires above, indicated the point where the car went of the road and shot down the sidewalk.
The victim was trapped inside the front passenger seat of the overturned car, according to a New York Injury Lawyer. Another young woman in the car at the time, 21, was found outside the car and spoke with officers before she was taken by ambulance to Good Samaritan, sources told a New York Car Accident Lawyer. Detectives have been unable to confirm who was driving the 1995 Lincoln Town Car when the single car crash occurred. They do not believe, however, that there was a third person in the vehicle. Since the victim was wearing a seat belt, she could not have been the driver.
The police are still looking for witnesses to shed further light on details of the crash. New York Car Accident Lawyers have determined the survivor is not confirmed to have been the driver of the vehicle, though the car was owned by one of her relatives. The exact ownership of the car is still under investigation. Police declined to state if the survivor made any comments following the crash. The family of the survivor has not returned calls from reporters.

Driver in Deadly Crash Was Intoxicated

New York state police have made a final report on wrong-way Taconic State Parkway crash that killed eight people in July of 2009. The driver of a minivan, a resident of West Babylon, NY, was both drunk – with a blood alcohol level of .19 percent – and high on marijuana when she plowed into a sport utility vehicle. The SUV was going 74 miles per hour at the time, according to a New York Car Accident Lawyer.
The investigation and reconstruction analysis determined that the minivan was traveling southbound in a northbound lane, when it struck the sport utility vehicle traveling in the northbound lane. A New York Injury Lawyer has been told both vehicles were well over the 55 mile-per-hour speed limit.
Fatalities included the minivan driver, her 2 year-old daughter, and her three nieces, who were nine, seven, and five years of age, who were all in the minivan. Killed in the sport utility vehicle were the driver of that vehicle, 49, his father, age 81, and their friend, age 74. There were also three others injured, according to a New York Injury Lawyer.
The minivan’s driver’s husband, along with their family attorney, continue to dispute the investigators’ determination that the driver of the minivan was intoxicated or under the influence of drugs. Instead, they believe the accident was due to one or more existing medical conditions.
There is a pending lawsuit filed by the family of the SUV’s driver, against both the minivan driver’s estate and against the owner of the minivan the deceased woman was driving at the time of the accident, according to New York Car Accident lawyers. The family of the SUV driver claims the speed of 74 miles-per-hour was the normal speed of traffic on the Taconic Freeway, implying that the speed of the SUV should not be held against them in their suit.
