New laws for taxi drivers may result in more tickets says a New York Car Accident Lawyer

New York City taxi officials have passed a new law that all taxi cab drivers will have to follow. An older law bans all cell phone use while driving. The new law takes it one step further for taxi drivers. They will not be allowed to use a hands-free device while driving. Even having the device in their ear can warrant a ticket. The law also bans any GPS that is not voice enabled, and anything capable of sending a text message, playing music or taking pictures while driving. A cab must be pulled over and parked, not just stopped, to use any of electronic devices. This ban applies to all vehicles regulated by the Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) including commuter vans and liveries. It is TLC’s effort to cut down on talking while driving and forcing drivers to pay more attention to the roads, and to pedestrians. Any driver caught using an electronic device while driving with face steep penalties on the first offense. The second offense can include a suspension of their license, and even having their driving privileges taken away on a third offense. A New York Car Accident Lawyer might be called.

If there is injury which is a part of the car accident, you will certainly need a New York Injury Lawyer to help you defend yourself or on the other side get you the award or reimbursement to which you are entitled. This is a must when injury occurs as the result of a car accident.

Car Accidents Related to Digital Billboards Reports a New York Car Accident Lawyer

While the world has stood up and taken notice of the danger of talking or texting while driving, New York Car Accident Lawyers report that digital billboards may be just as dangerous. This is not just an issue of cellphones but digital dashboards and roadside billboards are definitely grabbing the attention of driver’s and thus the attention of New York Car Accident Lawyers as well.

The billboard change the picture every six to eight seconds so advertisers can flash their message with the latest headlines to as many drivers as possible. The billboard industry declines to discuss that these billboards may be responsible for man car accidents. Steve Bilkis and Associates and his New York Injury Lawyers can be reached for more information about the matter at 1-800-NY-NY LAW.

Critics of the billboards call them “television on a stick” and insist that the billboards give drivers who are already talking or texting one more distraction. Some studies even go as far a to say that the billboards are more dangerous than cellphones. The thought process here is that the cellphones can be turned off but the billboard gets the attention of the driver making the billboards much more dangerous. There was no charge of drug possession in the incident.

Studies are being conducted by volunteers to see if the digital billboards are actually attracting the attention of a driver and if so, for how long. If you find yourself in a car accident, definitely seek the services of a New York Car Accident Lawyer before making any other decisions.

Police found the car, an Acura Legend, abandoned several blocks from the scene. Investigators began to search for Cindy Jasmin, 31, of the Bronx, who was listed as the owner of the car.
A New York City police spokesman, Detective Martin Speechley, said last night that Jasmin met with police at her lawyer’s office yesterday and turned herself in on an unrelated outstanding warrant. He said he did not know what the warrant had been issued for. Speechley said Jasmin was not under arrest on any charge relating to the hit-and-run, and that the crime is still under investigation.
Jasmin told police yesterday, however, that her sister, Frances, was driving the car when it hit Phelan and Guerrero, another police official said.
Phelan was a 2005 graduate of Swampscott High School and went on to attend Brown University. She had moved to New York last summer after getting a job working for Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s new volunteerism initiative, NYC Service.
