Stanislaw Boksa is facing a DWI along with other criminal charges for fleeing the scene of an accident. He Slammed into a vehicle and nearly struck a police car in Corona, Queens as he drove his Oldsmobile along 40th road near 102nd street. A Mitsubishi driving down Montauk Highway caused a fatal car accident in Copiague, New York. The car, driven by a 25 year old Lindenhurst resident, was heading east on Montauk Highway near Miramar Boulevard when it lost control and swerved into oncoming traffic. The car had 4 people inside when it struck a minivan, causing a fatal injury to the driver. Two of the passengers of the Mitsubishi also suffered fatal injury. The rest of the passengers of the minivan and Mitsubishi were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital; located at 1000 Montauk Highway, West Islip NY 11795. Reports did not release the type of injury the other passengers suffered, except that one passenger sustained a brain injury. Suffolk County Police have not stated if criminal charges will be filed against the driver.

Richard Barton, an East Northport resident was struck by a minivan while walking down Pulaski Road in East Northport, NY. Pulaski Road is also known as County Route 11 in Suffolk County. It stretches from Cold Spring Harbor to Kings Park and runs parallel to the Long Island Rail Road for most of the towns. Barton was struck by Vinton Simms, also an East Northport resident. Barton suffered a fatal injury at the time of the accident. Simms suffered an injury to his knee during the crash and was taken to Huntington Hospital; located at 270 Park Avenue, Huntington NY 11743. Suffolk County Police have not stated whether criminal charges will be filed against Simms.

Former NYC cop Howard Safir was accused of backing his Cadillac SUV into a pregnant woman in Manhattan and fleeing the scene. The pregnant woman was taken to a hospital and treated for a bruised shoulder. Safir claims that he did not know he hit someone, even though the victim claims that both she and an a passenger railed at the operator of the car for being nonchalant before driving away. A New York Fire Department ambulance killed an elderly woman as she pushed a grocery cart across an intersection. The ambulance was on its way to transport a patient to Brooklyn Hospital. The ambulance had its lights and sirens in use as it raced down Bay 22nd St towards Lutheran Medical Center located on 150 55th Street in Brooklyn. It was not known if the ambulance went through a red light. The victim was believed to be in her 80’s. No charges of DWI were brought by the authorities.

It was early in the afternoon during a festival celebrating the fifth day of Hanukkah in Woodmere, NY when an SUV lost control and caused a horrific accident. The festival, called “Chanukah Wonderland”, is meant to teach children the meaning of the holiday. There were already over 100 people in the building during the time of the accident. The driver of the car is a 76 year old man from Atlantic Beach, which is also part of Nassau County. He lost control of his SUV, careening into oncoming traffic where he hit another automobile. He then drove through the building on Broadway into the festival. Nassau County Police have not determined what caused the crash. Many festival goers suffered injury, ranging from lacerations to blunt force trauma. One man sustained serious injury when the SUV flipped over onto him. Reports do not list his injury, but did state it was not fatal. Fourteen people in total sustained injury. They were rushed to Withrop University Medical Center; located at 259 First Street Mineola NY 11501, and Nassau University Medical Center; located at 2201 Hempstead Turnpike, East Meadow, NY 11554 for treatment. The driver of the SUV was also treated for shock. He is not facing any criminal charges.

It was late in the evening when a man was driving on the Belt Parkway near Bay Ridge, NY. Reports indicate the car was speeding on the Belt Parkway with Brooklyn residents three people in the car. The Belt Parkway connects Brooklyn, Queens and Long Island in New York. The driver lost control of the car and smashed into a guardrail, a sign and finally into another vehicle before strucking the median. The passengers were thrown from the vehicle during the accident. Both woman suffered fatal injury. Reports do not indicate if the driver suffered injury as well. He was arrested at the scene and faces numerous criminal charges including Vehicular Manslaughter, Criminally Negligent Homicide and DWI. He also faces traffic infractions. He will be arraigned in Kings County Criminal Court; located at 320 Jay Street Brooklyn, NY 11201. He was held on $250,000.00 bail.
